  5. Apply Monostone coat 2 repeat the previous step to ensure a solid base
  6. Apply MicroQuartz coat 1 make sure to trowel evenly and in wave like patterns
  7. Apply MicroQuartz coat 2 repeat the wave patters and work the wet edge.

When to use the Belt and Brace Wall System

When you should use it:

The Belt & Braces Wall System is appropriate when any of the following apply:

  • The wall substrate has risk of movement, deflection, or is on a flexible structure (for example plasterboard on studs, or older walls), or you’re dealing with a substrate that’s less than ideal.
  • The environment is demanding: wet zones (e.g., showers, steam rooms), commercial areas with heavy usage, or interfaces where durability and waterproofing are critical.
  • You want maximum durability, reliability, and are willing to invest in extra prep and materials to ensure the finished system holds up over time.
  • You want to pair the finish with heavy‐duty floor systems, or you’re specifying a full high-end build where the wall finishes must match the performance of the floors.
  • Architecturally or functionally you require a seamless micro-cement wall in an environment where typical decorative finishes may fail (impact, moisture, heavy cleaning, etc).

When you might not use it:

You might choose a different system or a lighter specification if:

  • The wall substrate is very stable, low movement risk (for example high-quality plasterboard with minimal flex) and usage is moderate — in that case the Standard Wall System may suffice (and cost/time may be lower).
