Microcement wall and surface finish in a modern interior
What is a microcement wall?

A hand-troweled cement finish, straight over your existing walls.

Microcement is a thin cement coating a certified installer applies by hand at just 2 to 3mm. On walls, that means it goes right over drywall, plaster, or old tile — no demo, no backer board, no waiting weeks.

The finish is seamless and wraps every corner, so there are no trims or grout lines breaking up the surface. You get the warm, modern, concrete look on a single feature wall or across a whole room, with a natural hand-applied movement no paint or wallpaper can copy.

Microcement walls FAQ

Common questions about microcement walls.

Can microcement go over drywall and existing walls?

Yes. It bonds over drywall, plaster, existing tile, and concrete at 2–3mm. A certified installer preps the wall and applies the finish right over what's there — no demolition in most rooms.

Is microcement good for feature walls and fireplaces?

Yes — it's one of the most popular finishes for feature walls, accent walls, headboard walls, and fireplace surrounds. It wraps corners and curves in one seamless surface and tolerates the heat around a fireplace.

Do microcement walls crack?

It's a flexible system with mesh reinforcement in the base coats, so it resists cracking and movement far better than traditional plaster. Good substrate prep by a certified installer is what makes it last.

What finishes and colors are available?

Walls can be finished smooth or with subtle texture and movement, in a wide range of custom tones from soft creams and greys to deep charcoals. Because it's hand-troweled, each wall has its own natural look.
