When to use the Standard Wall System

When you should use it

You should consider using the Standard Wall System when:

  • You are working on interior walls (residential or commercial) that are not subject to heavy mechanical or structural movement.  You want a high-quality, seamless micro-cement finish with aesthetic appeal (feature wall, living room, lobby wall, etc) and you don’t necessarily need the heavy duty specification of a wet-room or heavy traffic area.
  • The budget/time constraints push toward a good-value system — Standard fills the middle ground between Fast (least build up) and Belt & Braces (highest build up).
  • You require a finish that is more robust than a typical decorative skim/plaster, but you don’t need full wet-zone reinforcement — e.g., bathrooms (outer walls, not shower walls), corridors, retail interiors.
  • You want to match floors or other surfaces finished in micro-cement and desire consistent visual textures across walls.

When you might not use it

Situations where the Standard Wall System may be less appropriate:

  • If the substrate is unstable, has notable structural movement/deflection, large cracks, or you are working with a substrate that cannot provide adequate support — in such cases the Belt & Braces Wall System (with mesh reinforcement and epoxy primers) would be the safer choice.
  • If the application is in a wet zone (e.g., inside a shower enclosure, steam room) or heavy commercial environment — Forcrete themselves say for wall systems, “walls inside the shower always receive the Belt & Braces Wall system, regardless of substrate.
