Microcement for Concrete Contractors | Higher Margins — Microcement USA

You pour and finish concrete for a living. You read substrates, you mix to spec, you trowel, you cure, you seal. Here's the thing: that's most of what microcement takes. You're closer to this skill than almost anyone.

And microcement pays a lot more per square foot than flatwork.

You Already Have the Foundation

Microcement is a thin, cement-based coating. About 2 to 3mm, applied over existing surfaces. The whole job runs on skills you use every day.

Substrate assessment. You already know how to read a slab and spot what'll cause problems. Mixing to consistency. You do it every pour. Trowel control. That's your hands right there. Managing cure and dry time. Second nature.

The difference is in the detail. Microcement is finer, more decorative, and built up in thin layers instead of poured thick. The Forcrete system runs primer, base, finish, and sealer, and it's waterproof as a full system. You'll pick up the technique fast because the fundamentals are already in your hands. Concrete guys are some of the quickest to learn it.

The Money Is in a Different Tier

Flatwork is competitive and priced by the yard. Microcement is a finish, and finishes pay like finishes.

Certified microcement installers charge $30 to $75+ per square foot installed. Compare that to what you make on a driveway or a patio pour. A single microcement bathroom or a feature floor can bring in what a much larger flatwork job does, with less material and less labor on the truck.

You're not dropping concrete work. You're adding a high-margin service that uses the same core skills. Want the full breakdown? Read our installer earning potential post.

Less Competition Than Flatwork

Every market is crowded with concrete contractors. You know the bidding wars. Three guys on every job, all racing to the bottom on price.

Now count the certified microcement installers in your area. Probably a handful. Maybe none. That's the opposite situation. More demand than supply, which means you set the price instead of chasing it.

When you're one of the few who can deliver a seamless, waterproof microcement finish, you stop competing on cost.

Your Existing Clients Want This

You already work with builders, remodelers, designers, and homeowners. A lot of them are planning bathrooms, floors, patios, and pool decks where microcement would be a perfect fit.

Right now you might be referring that finish work out, or losing it. Offer microcement yourself and you keep the whole job. The relationship's already there. You're just adding a higher-value service to the menu.

The Training Is Built for Tradespeople

Our training is hands-on at our facility in Arizona. Students travel in, learn the full system in person, and leave ready to take a job. For a concrete contractor, the prep portion will feel familiar. The decorative side is where you'll grow.

You'll cover substrate prep, the full Forcrete system, trowel technique for walls and floors, waterproofing for wet areas, and color and finish options. You apply the material during training, not just watch.

Your tuition comes back as product credit, so you're funding your first material orders while you learn. For most contractors, one finish job pays the whole thing back.
